Audiovisual installation

Sound by Pavel Ambiont

Stage design by Mykola Marusyk

The project is implemented online, by using messages on the Facebook between curator of the research part, Tetyana Tsvilodub with the artist.

The history of the monument to Princess Olga is confusing, mysterious and controversial, like the life of the princess. Olga is the first and only woman, who was the head of state in the history of Kyivs'ka Rus / Ukraine. From historical studies, we know that she helmed cruelly, has accepted christening in Constantinople, and enrolled in the face of the saints.

The monument to Olga, set up in Kyiv on September 4, 1911, was destroyed by the Bolsheviks in 1919, and only in May 1996, it was again restored.

Sculpture in the museum of Kavaleridze is a prototype of the established monument on Mykhailivska Square. The gypsum prototype has always been hidden in the shadow of its "Star" - a double.

Olga is hiding in the staircase and wants to "send her sophists," "illuminate" - to understand who she is. After all, its figure connects the past and the future, the ancient and the modern.

The head of the first monument, made by Ivan Kavaleridze, destroyed by the Bolsheviks in 1919, has never been found. The name "In the clouds" - a link to this story - Olga's head dissolved, disappeared.

Thanks to basic stage manipulations, namely illumination, smoke and lasers, a "star" image is created to attract the attention of viewers. Light smoke accumulates around the head of the monument, creating a feeling that the head is in the clouds.

The controversial and disturbing sound collage was collected by the Belarusian electronic musician Pavel Nehayev Pavel Ambiont specifically for this installation.
