While we were waiting for today's arrival of our residents, the curator Viktoria Danelyan had been working on a visual part of II International Parajanov Festival in Levandivka, particularly on a project, which includes works by Erna Dolmazova (Georgia). What is this? It's a secret for now! :) Visit the opening of the festival today and follow the news on our and festival's facebook pages.

Victoria Danelyan presented her multimedia installation “Violence-340” in the framework of visual part of the II International Parajanov Festival in Levandivka. The project is a spatial game with a viewer's perception, when public, wandering between works of Erna Dalmazova, which are suspended in the air, step by step gets deeper into the aura of the tragicomedy of the trial of Parajanov.

During one of his interviews (Paris, Nov. 9, 1988, archive of F. Salkazanova) Sergiy Parajanov recoled his sentence, in which he was accused of raping 340 members of Central Committee of the CPSU. Speaking ironicaly about this, he mentioned an Italian article with the title “Parajanov got 300 communists to fall for him”. When Yuriy Lyubimov became familiar with the contents of the Parajanov's sentence, he said that he was going to stage a show based on this story at Comedie Francaise.

Visual part of the installation, which is presented by photo portraits of members of Central Committee of the CPSU (some of them are covered by graphics by Erna Dalmazova), is strengthened by audio, which is, for its part, composed of: Mendelssohn's Wedding March, the record of the plenary of Central Committee of the CPSU and the above-mentioned interview. And the culmination of the spatial composition is marked by symbolic icon of a bride (also by Erna Dolmazova), whose face is made up of cut out eyes of those same portraits.
